Gen. Mark Clark describes the Allied campaign. Grenades are issued to U.S. infantry. U.S. planes bomb and strafe German positions on a ridge; trucks, infantry, and cavalry move up the mountain road and cross a bridge as Italian civilians cheer. Artillery is moved up and German POW's marched to the rear and fed. U.S. troops move into Bologna. Crowds jeer at pro-German collaborators who are herded into prisons. Gen. Clark confers with his aides. U.S. officers give "certificates of reliability" to partisans who then parade under the Italian flag. U.S. infantry creep along a partially demolished bridge. Ger. POW's are marched to the rear.
